Family Gosho: Chanting the Lotus Sutra - 4th Reading Video: Happiness for Oneself and Others - The Fundamentals of Gosho
Posted by 島幸弘
This was the fourth time that my family and I have read the Gosho together.
Every morning after my family and I do our devotion and chanting, we read the words of my family from the Seikyo Shimbun newspaper, and I read the words of Ikeda Sensei from time to time. If there is any advice from the Seikyo Shimbun newspaper or from Ikeda Sensei, I pick it up, check the work flow for the day, and then I move to the table and start reading from there. There may be some typos, but please forgive me as I read it with all my heart.
Excerpt from the Preface of the New Edition of the Complete Writings of Nichiren Daishonin by Ikeda Sensei
The Gosho has been translated into more than ten languages around the world. Today, not only in Japan but across the five continents of the world, it is commonplace to see people of all ages and genders joyfully studying the Gosho and encouraging one another.
It is widely read, transcending civilization, nationality, race, ethnicity, culture and language, and is being actively put into action at home, in communities and in society, spreading solidarity among good global citizens.
I am convinced that this is a great proof of the universality and validity of Nichiren Buddhism, because one of the common characteristics of world religions is that they base their faith on the sacred scriptures, take pride in them, and make them the foundation of their faith.
I practice according to the guidance of President Ikeda.
The sight of people of all ages and genders happily studying the Gosho and encouraging each other is a common occurrence, and it means that we read the Gosho on a regular basis. We decided to do the same in our home! This was a hopeful start. How about you all?
