日蓮大聖人御書・新編:改めて【序】を拝読・御書を夫婦で一緒に読んでいこうスタートしました

Excerpted from the Complete Works of Nichiren Daishonin, New Edition (Preface).

We, the Soka Gakkai, will forever walk the great path based on the Gosho (page 1)
Because the Gosho is the basis of our teachings, we respect the diversity of "cherry, plum, peach, and plum," and we respect one another as if they were Buddhas, and we accomplish all things through unity of "diverse bodies and one mind."
Because it is based on the Gosho, it shines forth the great light of limitless value creation towards "dignity and equality of life," "happiness and tranquility for the people," and "peace and coexistence in the global community."

In his "Publication Speech" for the Soka Gakkai edition of the Complete Works of Nichiren Daishonin, second president Josei Toda quoted the concluding sentence of the Shoho Jisso Sho: "We must strive for the two paths of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. Please teach others as well as yourself. Practice and study should arise from faith. If you have the strength, please speak even if it is just one sentence or one phrase."

This was nothing less than a declaration that, in accordance with Nichiren Daishonin's instructions, they would not only study the Gosho but also, above all, put it into practice, speak of it, and spread it throughout the world. (Page 2) The Gosho has been translated into more than ten languages around the world.

Now, not only in Japan but also in the five continents of the world, it is common to see people of all ages and genders joyfully studying the Gosho and encouraging one another. It is read widely, transcending civilization, nationality, race, ethnicity, culture and language, and is being put into action in the home, in the community and in society, spreading the solidarity of good global citizens.

Common Features of World Religions

I am convinced that this is a great proof of the universality and validity of Nichiren Buddhism, because one of the common characteristics of world religions is that they base their faith on the sacred scriptures, take pride in them, and make them the foundation of their faith.

This is the instruction.

The sight of people of all ages and genders joyfully studying the Gosho and encouraging one another is a common occurrence; this is because they recite the Gosho on a regular basis.

My husband and I decided to do the same in our home.

Can't we use the time after morning prayer as a family to have some quick time together as a couple?
The moment you say "I can't do it because I'm busy!", it's like saying "I can't do anything"

That's why! Let's try to do what we can only do now! That's the challenge!
Rather than thinking too hard about it, line up the two Gosho volumes in front of you. Then, start reading from the first volume to the end!
And those who come later should read until the end! Then close the Gosho. This should take 2 to 5 minutes.

The more you challenge yourself, the more your life will expand!
If you think but don't act, then thinking is just a waste of time.

Which one is valuable?
What do you think??
